Learn to ride - Burton Method Center

Since 2002/03 the “Take Off” centre has also been home to the official “Burton Method Centre”. Burton have developed the LTR (learn to ride) programme in conjunction with the leading snowboard- schools. By developing special boots, bindings and boards, the aim is to help beginners conquer the basics more easily and in doing so get a better feeling for snowboarding.

LTR BOARDS

After 4 years of intensive research, 2 boards have been developed for the LTR programme, that actively make snowboarding easier; enabling beginners in most cases to link turns on their first day, reduce the risk of wipe-outs and generally make the learning experience more fun.

Beginners start on the LTR board which has the following features:

• Convex tapered base edges, minimising the chance of ‘catching an edge’ and falling,

• Softer core and flex to the board, allowing for easier turning with the lower body,r

• Exaggerated sidecuts, allowing the rider to initiate turns more easily

BURTON CRUZER

As soon as the rider is able to link turns, it is time to step up to the Cruzer. The Cruzer allows the rider to build on the moves learnt on the LTR, and with its directional shape, is the ideal intermediate board for all styles of riding.

Typical features:

• lightly stiffer core and flex, allowing for better edge control and more positive turning,
• More exaggerated sidecuts, enabling carving sensation to be experienced,
• Smaller transition zones at front and back of board, allowing for quicker and more positive turning control,
• 3° tapered base edges, minimise ‘catching an edge’
