Skiboots that don’t hurt??

For a while ski-boot development stood still, but fortunately in the last couple of years, things have changed.ch.

Skis and boots should ideally compliment each other, if the thrills and fun of skiing are to be maximised, and therefore boots have roughly been divided into 3 groups: comfort, carving and racing.

EThat said, it should also be mentioned that there are also manufacturers specialising in custom boot fitting, and that the Tyrolean firm Strolz is at the forefront of customised boot fitting.

Only staff with the appropriate orthopaedic qualifications are able to fit Strolz boots, and each fitting starts with an exact analysis of both feet, and the individual’s footprint. This allows for the exact measurement of the footbed and also the correct positioning of supports/inserts, ensuring optimum weight and pressure distribution. The foot’s shape and volume must also be taken into account, in order that the outer shell is correctly fitted.

Exclusive to Strolz is that they are the only customised manufacturer offering boots in half sizes as well!

The boot is now ready to be injected with the necessary amount of foam, however before this is done, any parts of the foot that require freedom to move, have protection pads placed on them, to avoid any pressure points. The foaming process takes between 30-60 minutes, and then a further 12 hours to set properly. Your unique customised boot is now ready, offering maximum comfort and delivering optimal weight and pressure distribution to your skis- all in all more fun and satisfaction!
